This qualification is aimed at staff that has been recently appointed or intends to be appointed as a fire marshal/warden in the workplace. This course covers how fires are started, methods of controlling or eliminating inferno at the incipient stage, evacuating the building, fire briefings and risk assessing. The course provides employers with a programme which assists them in proving due diligence and demonstrates their legal commitment to staff training as required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005).
THE COURSE CURRICULUM INCLUDES: – Understand basic fire safety and what to do in the event of an emergency. – Understand the principles of fire risk control. – Understand the basics of practical fire safety. – Understand the principles of fire safety legislation under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 – Develop knowledge and understanding of how fire spreads and the behaviour of humans in the event of fire – Develop knowledge and understanding of the role of the fire marshal – Arson – Fire Prevention
- Advise and assist the client with their CDM duties for the duration of the project.
- Notify (F10) the HSE of projects of more than 30 days and 20 workers on site at the same time duration or 500 persons days
- Take overall responsibility to ensure that health and safety issues are suitably addressed prior and throughout the construction stage of a project.
- Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
- Accurately co-ordinate health and safety aspects of design work – ensuring co-operation with others involved in the project is maintained.
- Identify, collect and ensure the pre-construction information is passed onto the right duty holders on time.
- Develop and help to manage effective communication between client, designers and contractors.
- Liaise with the designers and Principal Contractor regarding ongoing design matters.
- Prepare/update health and safety files.
